Rail Trails in Massachusetts

Danvers Bi-Peds is a non-profit group advocating conversion of an abandoned rail line from Danvers Massachusetts to the New Hampshire Border to a rail trail.

The Ashuwilticook Rail Trail is a paved bike path running from Lanesborough to Adams, Massachusetts. and will eventually connect all the way to the Vermont line in Williamstown.

Border to Boston, an eight-community recreational path. The Border to Boston Trail is a proposed, 30-mile rail-trail linking eight Essex County communities. Numerous neighborhoods, schools, parks, recreation facilities, commercial and transportation centers lay along the trail. When completed, this non-motorized, multi-use trail, with links to many more miles of trails, will be one of the region’s most outstanding recreational assets.

Topsfield Rail Trail Service for the Danvers to Newburyport line ended in 1981. The Topsfield Rail Trail Committee’s thoughts for what we call Topsfield Linear Common (TLC) includes a stone dust surface that will provide a safe way for Topsfield’s children to go to the Proctor School and for all to get outside for recreation. Our expectations for the trail is that is will become a "linear common"; a place for people to meet one another.
