Bike New England is a small company specializing in scenic bicycle tours of the North Shore area of Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire, and the popular  Berkshire Mountains  of western Massachusetts.   All of our tours take quiet safe  local roads so you can fully enjoy New England's rich historic and cultural heritage.    By using the index on the left, you can view our scheduled tours for the 2008 season.

2008 TOURS

New England cycling
 Bike the North Shore , A  wonderful coastal tour for only $895!  Our week long tour is based in Ipswich and Newburyport Massachusetts, two of the oldest and best preserved colonial towns in America.  Designed for intermediate to advanced cyclists, our  marked routes offer rides with distances to fit a wide range of cycling abilities, returning each night to the Inns.  We explore a wonderful variety of terrains and visit the  historic highlights of this area,  plus miles of ocean-side cycling in coastal New Hampshire, and our own special back roads ride that take us to some of the New England's most historic villages.   Since the inception of the North Shore tour series in the summer of 2005, they have become a favorite of cyclists seeking safe, easier and scenic bicycle tours in a historic part of America.

Commuting participants:  $50 /day includes guided tour plus a light lunch with the group.  Rides begin promptly at 9 am each day.  Please call ahead , (978) 979-6598  to speak to Gordon if you wish to join as a day participant.

Bicycle tour near Gloucester Elderhostel North Shore Bike Tour  Cycling has become the sport of choice for older outdoor enthusiasts.   This special version of our North Shore cycling tours is designed for active participants aged 55 and older through the Elderhostel travel organization exploring the  England Coast and historic Essex County.   We stay in historic Ipswich, Massachusetts, with six days of beautiful easy cycling along the scenic shoreline and  old stone-walled roads of the many nature preserves of Essex county.  Rides are up to 45 miles a day, with shorter loops for all levels of cycling ability.   In the evenings we enjoy the comforts of the Ipswich Bed and Breakfast, and meals in several of  Ipswich's many wonderful restaurants.

Bicycle tour in Williamstown, MassachusettsBiking La Bella Berkshires  Our guides Gordon Harris and Barb Lampron lead a deluxe tour for the Italian adventure specialists Ciclismo Classico, offering four  days of cycling in the scenic Berkshires, based in Great Barrington and Williamstown, Massachusetts  This tour specializes in visits to the many cultural attractions that bring people to the Berkshires year after year.

 Cycling on the Deerfield River   

Berkshire Fall Foliage Bicycle Tour  This beautiful late season fall foliage road bike tour of the Berkshires with surrounding Vermont and New York State is is recommended for upper intermediate to expert cyclists (and also as an extension of our La Bella Berkshires tour available through Ciclismo Classico).   We'll be based two nights at the Williams Inn in Williamstown, Massachusetts ("The Village Beautiful") and two nights at the Windflower Inn in popular Great Barrington, MA.    Price is $1295, with 4 nights lodging (double occupancy), continental breakfasts ,great dinners,  plus guided rides with maps and cue sheets.  The rides are 35-45 miles, with  occasional climbs, and with shorter and flatter loops available every day, plus  full van support.   Half tour option $695.
