A Berkshire Fall Tour with Ciclismo Classico , based in Lenox, Mass., riding along the area's beautiful backroads with visits to the area's historic gardens and cultural highlights. As with all Ciclismo Classico tours, we include deluxe accomodations and gourmet. Led by Gordon Harris of Bike New England.

Four days of cycling in the scenic Berkshires' cultural center, for intermediate cyclists. 3 nights at the Apple Tree Inn Go to the Ciclismo Classico site
Day 1, Friday: Ride the Ashuwilticook Rail Trail : Today we take the
van north to Mount Greylock, the highest mountain in Massachusetts and
Williamstown, the "Village Beautiful". We set out for 12 miles on the
Ashuwilticook Rail Trail , returning through farmland in Adams, Cheshire and
Lanesborough. Total ride is 30 miles, with shorter or longer options.
Day 2, Saturday: Cycling The Tyringham Valley . From
the Apple Tree Inn, we ride past working farms in Lee to Stockbridge. Our ride
takes us along the Housatonic River and continues on to Tyringham and Santeralla
("the Gingerbread House") . We return through downtown Lee and Lenox ,
with a great ride on Undermountain Rd. Distance: 20-45 miles.
Day 3, Sunday: Stockbridge and Alford: We ride past stately
mansions on Prospect Hill Rd. to Stockbridge. Today we follow the Housatonic River rapids past
the Guthrie
Center, made famous in the movie Alice's Restaurant. We turn to take on the
rolling hills at the foot of the Taconic Mountain range in Alford on our way to
West Stockbridge, where we stop for lunch. Our return takes along Stockbridge
Bowl on our way back to Lenox. Distance: 32 miles, with short options
available.
Day 4, Monday: The
Hancock Shaker Village: The Apple Tree Inn has generously
allowed a noon check-out so that we can ride to Hancock Shaker
Village, to visit the shops, kitchen, barns and other features at this
popular attraction. A wonderful climb over Lenox Mountain is an option on our
return. Distance: about 20 miles, with the option of two climbs or van
support.
